Fall at the lake is a beautiful time of year. It may be a little cool for swimming in the lake, however there are many other activities to enjoy a vacation to the lake. We have a few renters coming for family reunions, fall breaks, and of course Thanksgiving. I have written a letter for my guest of the Lynchburg Lakehouse, to help plan their fall getaway to the lake. Enjoy, and thank you for reading.
First, I recommend taking advantage of the cooler weather and visiting the hiking trails at the state park. Or play a round of golf at the state park’s golf course Bear Trace at Tims Ford. The state park is 10 minutes from the lake house.
Renting a pontoon, or kayaks for the day, is a favorite activity for our family. I recommend the new marina Twins Creek for renting, and having a meal on their lakefront patio.
At the house we have two fire-pits; a small one on the back patio, and a very large pit on the large landing near the deck. We provide firewood and starter basket of s’more supplies. There is also a cornhole game available, while you are relaxing outside. Bubbles for the kids, and a little play house and water table.
Fall is football season, so we recently added Hulu live TV to our amenities, so you won’t miss the week’s best games.
I have left a supply of fall baking ingredients, if you feel like baking some pumpkin muffins or cookies.
We have fishing gear available at the house for fishing off the dock. A fishing license is technically required by the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency and can be purchased in the
sporting goods department of larger stores like Walmart. (required for 13years+)
Lynchburg is famous for its whiskey distillery if you are interested. Lynchburg has a small but quaint downtown with a few souvenir stores and a couple casual restaurants. There is one
restaurant I would like to try called Mary Bobo’s Boarding House and you will need reservations well in advance.
Vacations are a popular and convenient time for Family Photos. If you are thinking about taking family photos turning your stay, I have a recommendation, and someone I have used myself. Kara recently took fall photos for my family. She is great and reasonable price.
If you are travelling from out of state, you may be interest in day trips to other areas. I recommend Chattanooga, it is 1.5hrs from the house, and can be done in a day. Also, downtown Nashville is not too far away for a daytrip either (1.5hrs), or you could venture up to the famous Grand Ole Opry for a great live performance. In November, the Opry changes venues and performs from the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville, and that is a special experience!
Hope this helps prepares our guest for their fall getaway, and give everyone reading some fun fall ideas in the area.
